NKK to Market Urban Diving Park

DIVAN Artist's impression of the DIVAN diving park

NKK has initiated marketing activities for the DIVAN diving park concept it has designed and developed to offer users the pleasure of diving even in the heart of an urban metropolis. The company is focusing its marketing efforts on municipalities which own idle land in downtown areas, real estate developers, and leisure companies.

DIVAN is centered around a diving pool measuring 30m long, 10m wide and a maximum 18m deep. A "beach" made of rubber-chip urethane surrounds the edge of the water and unique objects such as imitation rocks, caverns, coral, squillas, drop-off cliffs, diving bells, and a sunken pirate ship have been placed within the pool.

The sunken pirate ship's windows contain video monitors to display videos of famous diving spots around the world and heighten the sensation of swimming with fish. Other facilities include a large mirror to allow divers to check for correct posture, and a wave-generating machine that can create downbursts and other tidal currents, allowing the park to be used for professional training as well.

The standard DIVAN facility is priced at ¥700 million and can be built in a 6-7 story building on 600m2 of land. Since the diving park can be used for multiple applications, including leisure and training, NKK is positively marketing it to a wide range of promising users, positioning it as a facility with high income potential compared to ordinary swimming pools.
