NKK LNG Carrier Technology at Gastech 98
NKK took part in Gastech 98, held at the Dubai World Trade Centre, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on November 29-December 2, 1998 with its own booth and displays of its latest LNG carrier technology. Gastech, a premier international conference and exhibition on LNG and LPG, is held every two years. This year it attracted some 3,000delegates with 157 exhibitors from 25 countries,providing a useful opportunity for exchanging views and information on recent LNG projects,contracts, well development, transport and storage technology, and other business issues.
Exhibits at the NKK booth included a scale model of an LNG carrier using the GTT (Gaz Transport & Technigaz S.A.s) Mark III membrane cargo tank system, while video presentations highlighted NKK's wide range of LNG-related operations and R&D activities for visiting customers,dealers and other interested business people. Picture panels also illustrated the "Aman Hakata," the 18,800m3 LNG carrier NKK recently delivered to a joint Malaysian-Japanese owner. The vessel,the third membrane-type LNG carrier NKK built for the same owner, is currently in regular service carrying LNG from Malaysia's Bintulu Port to the Hakata terminal of Saibu Gas Co. in western Japan.
