NKK Marketing Magical Water Amusement Facility

Magical water amusement facility at the Toshimaen Waterpark in Tokyo

NKK has concluded a design, manufacturing and sales agreement with TSP Taiyo K.K. and Universal Design K.K., two Tokyo-based leisure facility developers, relating to the "Karakuri Mizu Kojo" (Magical Water Factory) water amusement facility and has begun marketing the product.

The first model of this water amusement facility was recently installed as the Magical Water Factory at the Toshimaen Waterpark in Tokyo.

Based on a design concept created by Universal Design, the facility was developed for water parks across Japan. The basic frame, made of stainless steel pipe, is built on the lines of a jungle gym, combining unit frames each measuring 2.5m long by 2.5m wide and 5-9m high. Incorporated in these unit frames are a number of water amusement features, including loop and mini water slides, water jets and water falls such as a "Big Coffee Cup Mobile," a "Water Wheel," a "Wild Snake Tube" and a "Carillon Shower" which tells the hours, so that visitors can enjoy a variety of water features. Since the water features are in unit frames, the scale and content of the facility can be easily designed to suit the target age of visitors and the site conditions. The basic model, including three unit frames with water features, costs ¥46 million.

NKK's Leisure Specialities Department has been actively involved in the design and construction of water parks. It plans to step up the marketing of the new magical water amusement facility, targeting new leisure pool projects and refurbishment of existing pool facilities in Japan.
