Newly opened indoor water sport/health facility in Miyakonojo City

An indoor water sport and health facility, partly developed by NKK, opened in Miyazaki Prefecture in western Japan October 23. The facility, dubbed "Wellness Green Hill," is located in Miyakonojo City and was built to provide health benefits to local citizens. It features a swimming pool and bathing area, and is managed by the local municipality.

NKK's Leisure Facilities Department was responsible for constructing the pool facility, which consists of a main pool for adults and another for children, a water jet system and lounging and stretching areas. Known as the Wellness Active Aqua Pool, the main pool uses buoyancy and water pressure to allow users to actively exercise as they move about in the water.

In addition to swimming and wading, users can also enjoy more intensive water sports such as water basketball and volleyball. The lounging area is equipped with four partially submerged reclining chairs. One generates air bubbles to gently massage the user, while the other three use built-in water jets to achieve the same effect. The special chairs are intended to help users recover from fatigue and relax. A stretching bar has also been installed so users can hold onto it and enjoy aqua floating by water jets installed on the bottom of the pool.

NKK has designed and constructed a variety of water and snow leisure facilities for local municipalities and private-sector operators. The company intends to secure further contracts by offering a wide range of creative leisure facilities to contribute to local redevelopment plans.
